Rocker Park

A moorland ground under a ring of fells, with a tin-roof stand, a grass-bank terrace, a white pavilion and a viaduct across the valley.

ROCKER PARK is a small moorland ground out in the hills, ringed by fells, with dry-stone walls all round and a viaduct across the valley. It’s free to everyone, and it’s the only ground where you can play in all four weathers: clear, drizzle, mist and snow.

What’s at Rocker Park

  • The stand: a corrugated tin roof on slim posts, with a small timber gable.
  • The terrace: a long bank of concrete steps cut into the grass, with crush barriers, floodlight poles and a dry-stone wall along the top.
  • The home end: a white weatherboard pavilion with a veranda, a balcony, a slate roof and a cupola.
  • The away end: a low grass bank and a stone tea hut.
  • Beyond: farms, field walls and, by day, sheep on the hillside.

Day, sunset and night

By day a low sun rakes across the moor and throws long shadows over the pitch. At sunset the horizon turns heather pink, and at night the fells sit under a moonlit sky. Add mist or snow in CUSTOM MATCH › ARENA and it’s a different place again.
